How To Help

Become a Stroke Champion

How YOU can Help!

Every year hundreds of thousands of people in our communities experience a stroke. Unfortunately, many stroke survivors experience long term challenges when the damage to the brain is significant depending on the length of the stroke. Each minute, a person loses 1,900,000 brain cells which are never replaced. TIME is BRAIN. The key element is knowing the signs of stroke. In the United States, approximately 80% of Americans do not know the signs of stroke and the immediate need to call 911. This lack of knowledge can prevent the option for early treatment that is currently available. The sooner the patient arrives at the hospital the better their chances of a good recovery. Whether a city, town or rural area, this is the reality of stroke prevention and early intervention in America.

YOU can make a change in your community by educating your community on signs of stroke and the need for an immediate response.  In order to simplify this effort, United Stroke Alliance has created a packet of information that can be distributed in multiple ways in your community. The packet includes a press release, BE-FASTER! cards for distribution, posters, social media sample posts. After we receive a summary of your efforts, United Stroke Alliance will create a Certificate of Completion and recognition on the United Stroke Alliance website of Stroke Champions.
